Excellent tacos. Fresh, delicious and authentic. Best spot in Walnut Creek...highly recommend
Very friendly we asked a lot of questions about the menu they answered and recommended the best soup ever. We all had something different, and the food was great. Nice atmosphere, not real big inside. We went on a Sunday and there was a farmers market going on .
Taco time is all of the time at Tacos Walnut Creek, and the meals are as nicely prepared and as affordable as they are here, why shouldn't it be? Located on the corner of Locust Street and Giammona Drive in the heart of downtown Walnut Creek, Tacos Walnut Creek, Tacos Walnut Creek is locally owned and operated and represents some of the best fast casual Mexican food in the tony city of Walnut Creek. I have had my eye on Tacos Walnut Creek for quite some time, since I like to shop at both Broadway Plaza, which is on nearby Main Street just one block over, and the Target store, which has a vast underground parking structure that makes for shopping and dining in the area safe as long as you venture into said Target store. When a friend said that they had a pair of tickets at the nearby Lesher Center for the Arts and they asked where we could meet up in advance of the event for a quick and affordable bite to eat and the first place that came to mind was Tacos Walnut Creek. After seeing images of food posted by my fellow Yelpers as well as looking at the prices posted on their website, I suggested that we meet up at Tacos Walnut Creek for a quick bite before the show. After waiting outside for my friend during the evening, I noticed that although it was crowded, their crew managed to turn things around really fast as tables were full one minute and then empty the next. It's all fast casual ordering here at Tacos Walnut Creek with ordering at the counter with the menu posted behind the counter with their prices easily readable, and numerous laminated menus for customers to look closely at that had no prices listed on it. The menu at Tacos Walnut Creek is separated into categories including Platillos or Platters, Make Your Own Combination, Tacos, Burritos, Kid's Menu, Fajitas, Quesadillas, Salads, Tortas, their House Speciality, Mariscos or Seafood, Breakfast, Scrambles, Nachos, A La Carta which they also call Appetizers. Since we were in a rush, and we saw an empty table and wanted to take advantage of that, it was our turn to order and so we ordered pretty fast. I decided to order their 2 Item Combination from their Make Your Own Combination section of their menu, with my choice being an Enchilada with my selection of meat being carnitas, and their Crispy Taco with my selection of meat being beef. Others in my party ordered their 2 Item Combination with an Enchilada with Pastor and a Soft Taco with Beef and two Jalisco Style Pastor Tacos, served crispy style, which was filled with grilled onions, cilantro, pineapple and cilantro. It wouldn't take too long for our meal to be served as their team is fast and our entrées come with Spanish rice, refried beans topped with cheese, lettuce, sour cream and guacamole. Like I said they have their operation down pat, which of course we all know means that many of the sides are pre-prepared and ready to be doled out at a moment's notice. But this cannot take away from my enchilada being hearty despite being smaller in size, which was no doubt in part due to the fact that it was topped with an abundance of enchilada sauce and shredded cheese. My crispy taco was a real nice addition to my meal as it provided that extra crunch that was so desperately needed. They give you a small paper tray for you to load up on complimentary crispy tortilla chips and extra amounts of pico de gallo, salsa roja and salsa verde, which allows you to not only use it for the chips but as an extra sauce for your meal only added to the overall flavor and texture of our entrée. Everyone else seemed to like their own dishes as their soft taco was smaller in size than I originally thought in my head what it would be like, so I was glad that I ordered the crispy version of this signature menu item. I am so glad that we came to Tacos Walnut Creek, as we were out of there within half an hour, and our total bill for three diners came no higher than 38 dollars before gratuity was added in. I can't wait to come back to Tacos Walnut Creek and sample their Super Burritos, Quesadillas, and of course their hearty House Speciality which was a beef broth based soup served with beans, fresh veggies and tortillas. With meals like this let's hope every day continues to be taco Tuesday at Tacos Walnut Creek.
Our favorite taqueria in Walnut Creek - authentic, delicious, and consistent. Love the super taco with carne asada and quesabirria with consome - aqua fresca is good too with homemade chips and salsas. Great stop after a Target run and Farmer's market Sundays.
The variety of options to choose from . The pieces are decent and the amount of food they give is plenty ! Now the margaritas are good prices but you can barely taste the alcohol and my guava margarita was too sweet so too much guava was added ! The wet burrito was good but I didn't like the sauce at all - it was too strong and tasted like at too much like chipotle
Authentic Mexican food! I have been trying to find a good Mexican spot for months now. So happy I found Tacos Walnut Creek! Their service was great and super fast. They have a self serve chips and salsa station. Their Pozole was very flavorful and they gave a generous amount of meat and hominy. I will definitely be coming back soon!
Love the open kitchen. Service was fast and simple. You order at the register, then you are given a number to take to whichever table you'd like to sit at. The place felt clean. Came here for the open chips and salsa bar! It was the highlight! No complaints there, only praise. They fry their own tortilla chips! The first time I came here, I really liked the carne asada grande quesadilla. Perfect blend of flavors! It was massive though and I took half to-go. I would order this again 10/10 The second time I stopped by, I went on Taco Tuesday so I had to order their special (3 tacos + an agua fresca for $10)! I got 2 pork and 1 beef taco to try. Good pricing but the taco meat was a little bit dry. I also tried my friend's mixed fajita plate and the steak/ shrimp was also dry. Maybe it was just a bad day for the grill... For drinks: After trying a taste of each, I felt like their agua frescas are a bit watered down, especially the horchata. But with the dry meat, I was glad to have a refreshment to help! ...I still want to try their specialty, Carne en Su Jugo and I'd for sure come back for their quesadilla/chips&salsa bar!
Tacos Walnut Creek has stolen my heart! From the moment I stepped in, I was struck by the stunning ambiance - spacious seating, bold colors, and an open kitchen where the magic happens. The atmosphere is electric, making me feel like I'm in a vibrant Mexican fiesta! The only thing i would love to see is more art work, possibly a new mural or something to represent. I know of a few artist that can help with that The staff is always warm and welcoming, attentive to our needs and questions. They make us feel like family! And the food? Absolutely divine! We've tried everything on the menu, and each dish is a flavorful masterpiece. Happy hour is a must-try, with incredible deals on authentic Mexican cuisine. If you're craving the real deal, look no further than Tacos Walnut Creek. This gem has it all - atmosphere, service, and mouthwatering food that will leave you wanting more. Five stars isn't enough; I'd give it ten if I could! ¡Viva Tacos Walnut Creek!
Great spot at the corner of Locust in Walnut Creek. Order first then sit. They have enough seats to accommodate customers who come and go. The food comes out fairly fast so the tables clear quickly. Loved the pastor tacos Jalisco style! The fish taco was also pretty good. Carnitas crispy taco was decent. We ordered the guava margaritas. I enjoyed the tamarindo/tajin rim. The drink was delicious! Just wish it had a bit more tequila though. Beans were good. Rice was kind of dry. Lots of salsas to choose from at the chips station. Clean restaurant. Clean bathroom. Friendly service and staff.
Met up with a friend here for lunch, and they were surprisingly pretty quiet inside. The interior is spacious, with quite a few indoor seating available. There is also a parklet setup outside if outdoor seating is more your thing. Opted for tacos due to the store's namesake, and they definitely did not disappoint. Only ordered two tacos since it was suppose to be a quick lunch, but was most certainly hungry for more after wolfing them both down. Free chips and salsa are available at an unassuming looking salsa bar in the corner. The chips however were surprisingly quite crispy and crunchy, and I made sure to go back for seconds. Was definitely impressed and look forward to coming back again soon!
